Want courses built around you? · How Teo works

You're not stuck on this. You're stuck on something under it.

Almost nobody struggles because the topic is hard. They struggle because something underneath it went missing, and no one ever found it. It's the same story almost every time.

01

Something goes missing

A week off. A rushed term. A teacher who moved on. One idea never quite lands, and nothing announces it.

02

You keep up anyway

You work around it. You memorise the steps instead of understanding them. It works, mostly, for a while.

03

The ceiling arrives

Suddenly a whole subject feels impossible. Not because it's hard, but because it's built on the piece you never got.

Teo won't do it for you

Ask Teo to write your essay and it will say no. Ask it for the answers to questions one to ten and it will say no to that as well. Handing you an answer is the one thing guaranteed to leave you exactly where you started.

Ask it why something works, or tell it what you think is going on, and it will stay with you for as long as it takes.

Ask anything else

i keep getting this wrong

Here's the answer: x = 7

You hand it in. Next week the same thing happens, for the same reason, and nobody has said what the reason is.

The setup is right. It breaks where you combine the fractions — that's the part to fix.

You find out why, and it stops happening.

How Teo works

Three steps, and only the first one is your job.

1

Say what you're stuck on

However badly it comes out. "I don't get any of this" is a perfectly good place to start: Teo would rather have the honest version than the tidy one.

2

Teo works out what's actually wrong

Not just that you got it wrong: what you believe instead, and why it seemed reasonable. Most of the time the thing you asked about isn't the thing that's broken.

3

You get the missing piece, not the whole subject

Small gap, and Teo just explains it. Bigger than that, and Teo builds you a short course covering exactly what's missing, and nothing you already know.

Only what's missing

A course built from your conversation covers the part you got stuck on. The parts you already handle get left out on purpose.

Then it checks the fix holds: you practise doing it in the Lab, and the Memory Lab brings it back once it's no longer fresh.

Adding fractions with unlike denominators

Built from your conversation — not a syllabus

  • Why denominators have to match
  • Finding a common denominator
  • Adding once they match
  • Simplifying the result
  • Multiplying fractions
  • Dividing fractions
  • Fractions to decimals

The rest is skipped. You already have it, so Teo doesn't make you sit through it.

Say the wrong thing on purpose

Tell Teo what you think is going on, even when you suspect it's wrong. It won't just mark it wrong and move on: it works out what you believe instead, and why it seemed reasonable, and starts from there.

Nobody else is in the room. Nothing you say goes near a classmate or a mark.

You might recognise yourself

You've been quietly behind for a while

You follow the lesson. You take the notes. But something underneath stopped making sense a long time ago, and now it feels too late to admit which part. Teo starts there.

You're coming back after years away

You did this once. Most of it has gone. Teo works out what survived and builds only what didn't, so you don't sit through everything you still remember.

You're teaching yourself, with no map

No syllabus, no lecturer, no idea what you're missing: just walls you keep hitting for reasons nobody explains. Teo names the reason, then covers the ground under it.

What Teo will never do

Never does the work you're meant to hand in
Never tells you a question is too basic
Never teaches you what you already know
Never moves on because the class did
Never makes you say it well before it helps
Never lets a wrong answer pass in silence

Questions

Is it free?

Trying Teo on this page is free, no account needed. TeoLearn is in early access: an account starts on the waitlist with $5 of credit to keep talking to Teo, and $5 more when you're let in. Only AI work spends credit; reading lessons and creating courses are free.

What happens when my credit runs out?

Teo keeps answering in a limited mode, with a few free messages a day. Your courses, progress and notes stay exactly where they are.

What can I learn with it?

Anything you can learn by thinking it through: maths, sciences, languages, history, coding, finance, a skill for work. Teo explains, checks you've understood, and builds a short course when the gap is bigger than one chat.

Will it just give me the answers?

No. Teo won't write your essay or hand over the answers to your homework. It will stay with you until you can do it yourself, which is the point.

Is Teo a person?

No, Teo is an AI. It is careful, but it can be wrong, so check anything that matters.

Who is it for?

Anyone from 13 up. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian should read the Terms and Privacy Policy with you.

What happens to what I type here?

A chat on this page isn't saved for you: it ends when you close the page or it gets long. We keep a copy, without your name or email, to improve Teo. Signed in, your chats are kept for you to come back to. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

Start with the thing you'd be embarrassed to ask

That one is usually the foundation everything else was supposed to sit on. It costs you nothing to find out.
